 Hello, everyone!
Happy September...I think! I say "I think" because I'm definitely a fan of summer, and with September now here, there's no doubt as to what will come next. Thus far, I've been enjoying September, since it's still hot. We had a great stretch of summer this year, and I hear we're going to pay for it with a brutal winter. Oh well--what can you do?
I've been busy, busy, busy. I went to Dallas again this year for the Romance Writers of America conference, and had a blast. Such a blast that I took home a cowgirl hat as a keepsake. I was also in NYC, Martha's Vineyard, Buffalo, Houston, and the Bahamas this year--and I'm not finished traveling yet! I'm currently gearing up for my first trip across the pond in a little over a week, where I'll be visiting England, Italy, and France. I'm attending a conference in Matera, Italy (where The Passion of the Christ was filmed). I'll get to see Rome, and also Venice, and of course, Paris. I'm going to make the most of this trip! I'm excited.

I've been doing a lot of TV this year as well. In February, I was interviewed on Entertainment Tonight Canada, and I also appeared on the Gil Deacon Show on CBC. In March, I was featured in a national broadcast of a documentary called Who's Afraid of Happy Endings, produced by GAPC in Ottawa. It may re-air on Bravo! Canada, and there'll be a US air date soon. So watch for that!
And I was also on my first televison quiz show! (I say "first"--as though there'll be many more...hey, a girl can hope!). If you can, try to tune in this Sunday, September 9 to watch the show on CBC. The quiz show is called TEST THE NATION: WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE (www.cbc.ca/testthenation). I'll be on with a team of romance writers. There are six teams (including English teachers, word gamers, and others) and we're all teams of people who SHOULD know how to use the English language...I hope I don't come out wearing a dunce hat! |
On the book front, this has been a very busy year for me. My latest release is LOVE, LIES AND VIDEOTAPE, a romance from Harlequin Kimani, about a young actress whose life goes into a tailspin after an "intimate" video of her is released. That came out in August. It's the first romance I've officially written for Kimani, although they've re-released some of my books after Harlequin bought BET Arabesque. In March, GETTING SOME was released from Harlequin Spice, and in April, St. Martin's Press released my first true suspense story, WE'LL NEVER TELL. I've received tons of emails about this book, and I'm so glad you are all loving it!

Also out in August was the first of a series I'm co-writing with a friend of mine, Brenda Mott. The book is called HOW TO KILL A GUY IN 10 DAYS and it's absolutely hilarious. It's a mystery, totally zany and guaranteed to have you rolling on the floor laughing in hysterics! HarperCollins released the book under their Avon Trade imprint. It's not a romance, although it does have romantic elements. Think Stephanie Plum in Janet Evanovich's books. Or Carl Hiassen's zany stories. It's that kind of book, and it truly was a blast to write!

Besides my four new releases, I've also had some re-releases this year. HarperCollins put GIMME AN O! out as a mass market paperback in Februrary. In January, Harlequin Kimani issued a collector's edition of three of my novels in one large trade paperback called IRRESISTIBLE DESIRE. The book included my earlier works Everlasting Love, Sweet Honesty, and Flirting With Danger). It's great for collectors and those who didn't get to read those books when they came out in the late 90's to early 2000's. In October, HarperCollins will re-release THE SWEET SPOT as a mass market title, and check out the hot new cover they gave me! I had to make it my screen saver. It's not hard to be inspired when you're looking at abs like that!

Well, that's it for now. I'm going to have a new contest posted soon, so look for that. And please keep the letters and emails coming, even if I don't get around to answering you in a timely manner. I try, but sometimes some mail goes into my spam folder, or disappears into cyberspace, or I'm too busy to answer right away. But, I do appreciate all of your kind notes.
Until next time, happy reading!
